For 1.5 years, we have been supporting the Urban Living Lab “Circular Building Vienna” on behalf of the City of Vienna – with over 260 committed participants from building and planning practice, administration & science.
Our tasks? The methodological and content-related design and implementation of the Urban Living Lab, commissioned by the City of Vienna (Municipal Directorate – Buildings and Technology Division).
In several methodically developed project phases with a total of 15 consecutive participation formats, we used co-creative design to jointly think through levers for a circular building and planning practice.
On October 8, 2025, we were then able to reflect on the results together at Vienna’s Nordwestbahnhof – an inspiring moment that shows what innovative collaboration can achieve!

The “Urban Living Lab Circular Construction Vienna” project is being carried out as part of the “DoTank Circular City Vienna 2020-2030” program and funded by the City of Vienna’s internal innovation management department, administered by the Department of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Statistics (MA23).
MIA GmbH was commissioned by the City of Vienna (Municipal Directorate – Buildings and Technology Division) for the conception, methodological and content design and implementation of the Urban Living Lab.
